SAMARKAND (Dunya News) – Pakistan won the gold medal after securing first position in Category D at the World Chess Olympiad 2026 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The Pakistani chess team represented the country at the international event and delivered a strong performance, defeating Seychelles, San Marino, Cayman Islands and El Salvador.
Pakistan drew its matches against Egypt and Yemen, while it suffered defeats against Colombia and South Africa.
The Pakistan Open team secured 12 match points and 162 game points in the Olympiad. Pakistan also improved its position by 29 places in the World Chess Olympiad.
