LAHORE (Dunya News) - Transport fares across the province have been reduced by 5 per cent following a series of enforcement operations carried out over the past 24 hours on the directives of Provincial Transport and Mass Transit Minister Bilal Akbar Khan.

The reduction comes in line with the continued decline in petroleum product prices, providing relief to commuters.

Bilal Akbar Khan has directed relevant officials to remain active in the field and take immediate action on public complaints.

He has also ordered daily reports on enforcement actions against transporters found overcharging passengers.

The provincial minister said the government was fulfilling its promise to bring transport fares back to their previous levels.

He also expressed gratitude to transport operators for not increasing fares despite previous hikes in diesel prices.

He further stated that transport fares would be reduced again if petroleum product prices declined further, adding that every possible measure would be taken to provide additional relief to the public.

Bilal Akbar Khan warned that strict and immediate action would be taken against transporters charging excessive fares, operating smoke-emitting vehicles, and violating other transport regulations.
