(Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain has confirmed receiving a legal notice from the Punjab government over his remarks concerning alleged corruption in the province, saying he will respond to it soon.

In a post on X, Salik said he would submit his response shortly, adding that transparency should not be pursued behind closed doors.

Earlier, speaking to reporters at Parliament House, the federal minister said he would respond to the legal notice after receiving it from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He maintained his position on the allegations of corruption in Punjab, saying he would submit a comprehensive response to the notice in court.

Salik also rejected allegations concerning the appointment of the Gujrat deputy commissioner, describing them as fabricated. He clarified that his remarks about corruption in Punjab reflected his personal views.

The minister also ruled out the possibility of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaving the government, saying the immediate priority was to respond to the legal notice.

Meanwhile, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain issued a clarification regarding his brother's remarks, saying Salik had not specifically referred to the Punjab government but had pointed towards corruption within the system.

He added that Salik might have access to information of which he was unaware, stressing that he had neither distanced himself from his younger brother nor intended to do so.
