TANK (Dunya News) – Three traffic police personnel were martyred when terrorists opened fire on a police vehicle in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The bodies of the slain officers were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital following the attack.
The armed attackers managed to flee the scene after the firing, while police launched a search operation in the area.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and expressed grief over the deaths of the three police personnel. He paid tribute to the slain officers and offered condolences to their families.
Naqvi said the government stood with the families of the deceased in their hour of grief, adding that the sacrifices of those killed in the fight against terrorism would not be in vain.
The incident comes amid a series of attacks reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A day earlier, three people were killed and three others injured in an attack in Lakki Marwat district.
Earlier, a suspected suicide blast and gunfire at a checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan reportedly killed 12 people and injured 35 others.
On September 18, an attack during Friday prayers at the old police lines in Kohat left 21 people dead and more than 100 injured.
