LAHORE (Dunya News) — Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has been arrested by police in Lahore under the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO), according to family sources.
Family sources said Aleema Khan was arrested while she was travelling towards Gymkhana along with her driver. She was taken into custody by personnel of Lytton Road Police Station, while her vehicle was parked at the police station following her arrest.
According to the sources, police had approached the deputy commissioner, who subsequently issued a detention order under 3-MPO. Aleema Khan was later shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail following her detention.
The PTI Central Punjab spokesperson strongly condemned Aleema Khan’s arrest. Brigadier (retd) Mushtaq said the party condemned the arrest and claimed that she had been shifted to an unknown location.

Mushtaq alleged that the government had become afraid of what he described as a public revolution. He further claimed that a large number of PTI workers were also being arrested and that the arrests were continuing on a large scale.
The PTI Central Punjab spokesperson said the arrest of Aleema Khan was part of the ongoing crackdown against party workers, while reiterating the party’s condemnation of her detention.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s protest and march towards Islamabad will be held on September 27, with the party preparing to mobilise workers from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI had announced the September 27 protest earlier, with Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan saying the party would come to Islamabad to seek its rights and press for implementation of court orders.
Gohar had said the protest would remain peaceful and would be led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. He said PTI was not coming to “conquer Islamabad” but to seek its rights and would not use state or provincial resources or attempt to break the gates of Adiala Jail.
Preparations for the September 27 mobilisation have continued amid legal proceedings and government warnings. The Islamabad High Court has ruled that no political party or public office-holder has the authority to block roads in Islamabad.
The IHC has also issued directions concerning the planned march, while Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has warned that the government will stop any attempt to enter Islamabad in violation of the court’s order.
