TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian military spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi has said that any alliance formed by foreign powers against Iran is destined to fail.

Shekarchi said US President Donald Trump and his hardline allies had sought to destroy Iran but had instead found themselves facing a strategic crisis.

He further claimed that the United States had reached a deadlock in the Middle East, adding that the Trump administration and Republicans' defeat in US elections reflected Washington's failure in confronting Iran.

The Iranian military spokesperson also said that US threats and policies against Iran had shaken the White House's power and influence.

He maintained that Washington's policies of aggression, terrorism and pressure against Iran had failed to achieve their objectives.

Meanwhile, Iran executed three men on Sunday after they were convicted of carrying out operations for Israel and the US and taking part in armed unrest during anti-government protests in January.

The executions are the latest in a series Iran has carried out in recent months over the January protests, including of people accused of links to Israel and the US.

Hassan Dioband, Hamid Kazemi and Reza Zanganeh were accused of using firearms, grenades and Molotov cocktails, setting fire to public facilities and damaging an electricity substation in the city of Karaj, causing power outages in some areas, according to the judiciary.
