Summary According to The Guardian, Qatar is seeking to persuade Iran to allow United Nations inspectors access to its nuclear facilities for inspection
DOHA (Dunya News) - Qatar has proposed a new diplomatic initiative aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States and easing tensions across the region.
According to a report by British newspaper The Guardian, Qatar is seeking to persuade Iran to allow United Nations inspectors access to its nuclear facilities for inspection.
The report said the Qatari proposal also calls for inspections of Iranian nuclear sites damaged in US airstrikes. Implementation of the proposed plan could pave the way for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Under the Qatari formula, the United States would immediately lift its naval blockade of Iran, while Washington could also agree to release part of Iran’s $8 billion in frozen assets, the report said.

The proposal does not call for Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium to be transferred out of the country. However, reducing the level of uranium enrichment is reportedly among the options under consideration.
Meanwhile, no final agreement has been reached on granting UN inspectors access to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Tehran reportedly remains concerned that sensitive information obtained by international inspectors could be passed on to the United States and Israel, complicating efforts to reach a diplomatic breakthrough.
