Pakistan made a dominant start to their Asian Games 2026 men’s hockey campaign, defeating Thailand 9-0 in their Pool B opener.
Ahmed Nadeem was the standout performer for Pakistan, scoring three field goals in the 20th, 37th and 43rd minutes to complete his hat-trick.
Sufyan Khan added two goals from penalty corners in the 22nd and 23rd minutes.
Moeen Shakeel opened Pakistan’s scoring in the eighth minute before Imad Butt doubled the lead four minutes later.
Rana Waheed Ashraf scored in the 31st minute, while Hannan Shahid found the net in the 34th as Pakistan continued to dominate.
Pakistan maintained pressure throughout all four quarters and kept Thailand from scoring.
Following the emphatic victory, Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani congratulated the players and management, expressing hope that the team would maintain its winning momentum in their upcoming matches.
