LAHORE (Dunya News) – Senior Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan leader and former Deputy Emir Hafiz Muhammad Idrees has passed away after a prolonged illness.
Hafiz Muhammad Idrees had been seriously ill for several weeks. Details regarding his funeral prayers will be announced later.
Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed deep grief over his death and paid tribute to his religious, political and organisational services.
Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch, Dr Farid Ahmed Paracha and other central and provincial leaders also expressed sorrow over his passing. They prayed for the elevation of the deceased’s ranks and patience for his bereaved family.
Hafiz Muhammad Idrees was regarded as one of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s prominent religious and political figures. He devoted his life to religious outreach, political struggle and ideological awareness.
He served for a long period as the party’s Deputy Emir and also held key positions, including central Qayyim (secretary-general) and Emir of Punjab, where he carried out various organisational responsibilities.
He was a prominent religious scholar, an acclaimed orator and an author. He wrote several books on the Quran, Hadith and the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), while his religious and intellectual lectures contributed to the moral and intellectual development of many young people.
Hafiz Muhammad Idrees was also among the central members of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba and was considered a prominent figure in the Islamic movement from his youth.
