LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has nominated Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan for the office of president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said Nawaz Sharif had directed Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan to submit his nomination papers for the AJK president's office.
She congratulated Dr Najeeb Naqi on the nomination on behalf of the party and its leadership.

The PML-N's top leadership and Nawaz Sharif approved Dr Najeeb Naqi's name following consultations within the party.
Dr Najeeb Naqi belongs to the Sudhanoti-Palundri constituency of Poonch Division in AJK. He is a prominent figure in the region's political landscape and has previously served as a minister in the AJK government, holding several important portfolios.
Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner had issued the formal schedule for the election of the new AJK president as part of the constitutional process.
According to the schedule, the election for the new president of AJK will be held on September 24, 2026.
